How is the Joseph Petzval Focus-coupled Bokeh Control Art Lens different from the New Petzval 80.5 f/1.9 MKII Bokeh Control Art Lens and will I get the same amount of swirl from both?
Your New Petzval 80.5 f/1.9 MKII Bokeh Control Art Lens was designed to work natively on SLR mounts. With the next generation of the Joseph Petzval Focus-coupled Bokeh Control Series, this classic focal length for portraiture work is now coming to the full-frame mirrorless world for the first time! The swirl will beautifully isolate your subject and bring new depth to your photography and videography through seven different bokeh levels.
Will the Aperture Plates of my other Lomography Petzval Art Lens fit this lens?
Sadly not. The Joseph Petzval 80.5 f/1.9 Focus-coupled Bokeh Control Art Lens aperture plates are a different size from those of our other Petzval Art Lenses.
What does "Focus-coupled Bokeh Control" mean?
The swirl is at the heart of that unmistakable Petzval look. With our new focus-coupled control technology, you can now control it like never before.
Focus on your subject, and adjust the bokeh control ring through the seven bokeh levels manually or via cinema gear – all while our focus-coupling mechanism eliminates any focus shift which could disrupt the story. This new feature allows you to effortlessly adjust the visual mood, create subtle transitions, or progressively isolate your subject, to craft your most immersive videography work yet. If your subject is further than 20 m away, and depending on the aperture set, you may still experience a minimal focus breathing between the bokeh level 1 and bokeh level 7.
When will all five focal lengths be available?
Currently, the 35 f/2, 55 f/1.7, 80.5 f/1.9 Focus-coupled Bokeh Control Art Lenses are available to order. The 27 mm, and 135 mm are still in development and will be available soon.

This new lens is fully optimized for video. With stopless bokeh and aperture rings, plus focus-coupled bokeh control, you can adjust the lens’ visual character while filming without disturbing your composition. The new lenses also feature gear rings that make it possible to use the lens with follow-focus equipment for smooth, accurate focus adjustments. The gear rings have unified positions across the full set of focal lengths, which means you can switch efficiently between Joseph Petzval Art Lenses without the need to recalibrate your video equipment.
I’m a photographer and already own a Petzval lens. Why should I buy this new version?
This new Petzval lens retains the unique character of the original but introduces modern refinements for greater control and consistency, delivering even better results with today’s cameras.
How does delivery work if I order lenses with different shipping ETAs?
If you place separate orders for each focal length, each lens will ship as soon as it becomes available, allowing you to receive them at the earliest possible date.
If you order all three focal lengths in a single order (including within the launch bundle), your lenses will ship in two separate orders based on availability.
