We’ve developed a daring and pioneering new medium-format camera that will not only bring a new level of lens quality to Lomographers, but a whole host of exciting new developments that make the most of this truly amazing photography format.
It’s no secret; at Lomography we love medium-format photography. For one thing, it was medium-format cameras that NASA’s astronauts took with them as they first explored the frontiers of space. Well, now it’s high time for us Lomographers to start exploring new frontiers too; we’re ready to dive headfirst into the full possibilities of medium-format film and to let creativity soar amongst the stars.
Carrying on the tradition of its distant cousin, the LOMO LC-A+, the Belair X 6-12 Jetsetter boasts an automatic shutter system that makes shooting perfectly-exposed photos as easy as clicking the shutter – and all this on 120 film! The expansive 6x12 format allows you to capture a vast space that makes for jaw-dropping photos; whether landscape, portrait or anything else you feel like shooting. Wait there’s more; the Belair X 6-12 can also shoot in both square 6x6 and regular 6x9 formats. So whatever shape you’re in, the Belair X 6-12 is ready to match you!
Who says panoramic medium-format cameras have to be the size of a small car? We know Lomographers are always on the move; that’s why the painstakingly developed and reliable fold-out bellows system allows the Belair X 6-12 to collapse to a convenient and portable size - meaning you can take the camera (and stunning medium-format photos) wherever you go.
Together with a team of experienced optics engineers, the Lomographic camera developers have refined both a 90mm lens and a 58mm wide-angle lens; each lens offers high quality photos while still being loaded with the Lomographic charm we all know and love. Oh, and this is just the start: the Belair X 6-12 features an exchangeable lens system for ultimate experimentation and flexibility – you can rest assured we’re already working on new and exciting lenses!
Carrying on the tradition of its distant cousin, the LOMO LC-A+, the Belair X 6-12 camera boasts an electronic automatic shutter. This means that just like with the LOMO LC-A+, the correct film sensitivity needs to be set so that photos turn out neither dark, nor overexposed. Whilst the LOMO LC-A+ shutter closes only once there is enough light, the Belair X 6-12’s auto-exposure range is EV4 – EV15 and this is calculated just before the shutter is released.
The minimum recommended conditions when shooting in dim light with the Belair X 6-12 are ISO/ASA dial set to 100 with 100 ISO film. If you’re after brighter results in a dark setting, a high ISO film or switching to B (Bulb) Mode is recommended. B Mode will expose your shot for as long as you keep the shutter pressed.

“The most exciting non-digital camera released this year.”
“The fold-out system means users can collapse the camera to a convenient and portable size when not shooting with it. The retro bellows will also ensure you always stand out from the DSLR-toting crowd.”
“Just because a camera has bellows doesn’t mean it’s vintage. The new Lomography Belair X 6-12 has bellows as well. It’s a portable medium-format camera that shoots auto-exposed photographs on 6×12 film — the world’s first camera to do so.”
“The total package of these features offered in a dashing, streamlined body is what makes this product especially enticing.”
“We here at The Phoblographer love film photography and are very excited about this new medium format offering by Lomo. If you’ve ever shot medium format film, you will know that it has a totally different quality from 35mm film. If you never did, we urge you to try it out once.”
“Those iconic camera folk at Lomography are at it again, this time delivering a camera that is capable of capturing photos in three different formats. […] As is the norm with Lomography cameras, the Belair X 6-12 uses film and is modestly built in terms of size, while the very design of the camera is sure to get admiring looks, even before you’ve shown off your prints.”
